Back in the early Seventies, a new jewellery trend was born: taking granny's old sterling silver flatware and forming it into so-called "spoon rings". (Actually, quite a number of those 1970s spoon rings were made from forks rather than spoons, because once the prongs/tines had been cut off, nobody could tell the difference!) The result of these home-made efforts was an extremely attractive wrap-around ring, which because it was open-ended, could even be adjusted slightly to fit. These days you don't have to raid your grandmother's silver drawer to find sterling silver spoon rings - you can buy them online, at Amazon.com. Of course, the spoon rings you buy on Amazon aren't made from real spoons,
but they are available in all sorts of designs from minimalist and contemporary to the more classic, ornate Victorian style.
