The whole fashion world was abuzz when Kate Middleton—now Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge—emerged from the Rolls Royce bridal car, revealing the beautiful, long speculated about wedding dress, designed by Alexander McQueen designer, Sarah Burton. Needless to say it was simply stunning and definitely fitting. But what about the jewelry the bride wore?
Obviously, aside from having a Prince for a groom, a royal wedding also calls for having the bride wear a tiara. Princess Diana wore a tiara to her wedding, so naturally, Kate Middleton’s jewelry accessories had to include one as well. Her tiara, a 1936 Cartier, was loaned to her by the Queen Elizabeth II herself! It is said to have been a gift to the Queen Mother from King George VI, which she then passed on as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II, on her 18th birthday.
Other jewelry Kate Middleton wore on the day of her wedding was a beautifully understated pair of diamond earrings, custom-made by Robinson Pelham. A wedding gift from her parents, the earrings reflected the family’s new coat of arms; it features a pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pave-set diamond acorn in the middle.
